"Digital Dentistry: Material Properties, Selection and Use"
Thursday, February 25th

1:30 PM - 2:15 PM

Presented by:  Russell Giordano, DMD, DMSc, FADM, Cert. Pros.

Digital dentistry, in particular CAD/CAM systems, continues to grow in use for fabricating a wide variety of dental restorations. Although the machining system is the primary facilitator in this scheme; the milled materials themselves may ultimately determine the long term success or failure of the system. This presentation will provide a review of current block materials for full contour and frameworks. Zirconia, which has become the primary all-ceramic framework material, is unlike any ceramic we have used to date. The latest information on zirconia handling, veneer materials, and properties of a variety of zirconia blocks will be discussed.
